it’s a reality check
it’s a numb override
a malfunction unheeded
come in terms the voices say
take a stand shouts the scream
if you only knew how

down in that darkness
two silhouettes share a kiss
bathed in evening light
bliss dances to ignorance
a life fades away
another comes to a sheer halt
why screams the soul
fractured for life
why it screams
in a swimming pool of needles
over and over you drown
a faith lost
a hope burned
a life that yearns to end
how do I lift you up?
tell me how
here marches a carnival of white flags
and I don’t see a way
into the night air
a dirge was sung
you hear it still
the dirge that shattered
breaks you still

muffled carols
running from the end
end you seek

the swell of scars
